How Much Protein Does My Senior Horse Need?

A senior horse, or horses over 20 years of age, require a diet of 12%-16% protein. As our horses get older their digestive system changes which inhibits their digestive system’s ability to extract nutrients, and especially protein from their food. By increasing the overall amount of protein in their feed we help to ensure the correct amount of protein is absorbed for proper body function.

Please contact your veterinarian to help in determining the proper diet for your older horse.
