Coggins Testing & On Site Lab
Standard & Expedited Coggins Testing

Coggins tests are testing for exposer of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). If you are traveling with your horse, inside our outside of your state, a current Coggins test is required. Coggins tests are good for 1 year after the blood is drawn.

Because Mid-Rivers Equine Centre has our own state-certified Coggins testing lab on-site, we can turn around an expedited Coggins test in as little as 24 hours. Of course, if you don't need it quite that fast, you can take advantage of our standard Coggins testing turn-around-time of 5-7 business days.

Piroplasmosis Testing:

A negative piroplasmosis certificate may be required by the state or show grounds you are taveling to or through. This is a relatively new requirement, and like the familiar Coggins test, they are generally good for up to 12 months. You can learn more about Piroplasmosis in our on-line library.

More About Our On-Site Lab:

When diagnosing an equine's illness or injury, time is not always on the horse's side. This was the thought behind having a lab on-site at the hospital. In some cases test results which may have taken as much as 2-3 days to receive can be realized in minutes. This critical time savings can make the difference in the outcome.
