It draws water into the G.I. tract. Water helps to break down fecal matter. As seen in the video below. Oil is used to lubricate matter lodged in the G.I. tract, but it does not break down fecal matter. Depending on the colic case, your doctor may tube with mineral oil, electrolytes, or Epsom salt.
