When it comes to horse bio security the” one bucket, one horse” rule of thumb may seem obvious, but raise your hand, if when you pack up the trailer, those buckets get stacked up without being disinfected first. If you raised your hand don’t feel too bad, we promise you are not the only one.
Stacking non-sanitized buckets and redistributing them upon arrival is one sure way to spread germs. We recommend taking a few extra minutes to disinfect buckets and having each bucket labeled with its horse’s name to reduce cross-contamination.
Getting Buckets Unstuck
Quick Tip: Buckets stuck together? Un-stick them with hot water. Turn the buckets upside down and run hot water over them. The heat will expand the air in between the buckets allowing you to slip them apart.
