Dr. Jael Lanham is a West Virginia native, growing up in the small town of Follansbee. She attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate studies in animal science and rural sociology and graduated from veterinary school at the University of Missouri in 2014. Following graduation, she completed an equine surgery internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY. Dr. Lanham then returned to MU for a rotating equine medicine, ambulatory, and surgery internship.
Upon completing her internships, Dr. Lanham continued her training in large animal surgery, lameness, and sports medicine through a surgical residency at the University of Missouri. During this time, she researched equine hind limb lameness that culminated in a Masters of Science Degree. Her clinical interests include soft tissue surgery and equine lameness.
Dr. Lanham became a Mid-Rivers Equine Centre associate in 2020 and is thrilled to be apart of a “group of veterinarians practicing progressive medicine with a team approach.” When asked why she was attracted to Mid-Rivers Equine Center, she said, “The mentorship and team approach to cases was a big draw to the practice.” Dr. Lanham also enjoyed the idea of working with Dr. Devereux again. They worked and studied together at the University of Missouri and have remained close friends since.
Dr. Lanham enjoys hiking and camping with her Fianc√©, Jordan, and their beagle, Hudson, outside of veterinary medicine. Of course, Dr. Pitt’s family wouldn’t be complete without her OTTB, Sangria. They enjoy riding and competing in the hunter division together
